Shipping Container Conditions & Grades

Shipping containers are generally offered in the following condition categories:

• New (One-Trip): Brand-new condition used only once for international shipping. The highest quality available, ideal for long-term use and modification projects.

• Used (IICL Grade): Top-tier used condition meeting strict leasing standards. Structurally superior, minimal repairs, and typically CSC valid for international shipping. Preferred for long-term leasing and export operations.

• Used (Cargo Worthy / CW): Structurally sound and suitable for export cargo transport. Meets standard shipping requirements but may show visible wear.

• Wind & Watertight (WWT): Suitable for storage use. Sealed against wind and water but may not qualify for export due to age or condition.

• As-Is: Sold in current condition without repairs. Condition may range from minor damage to heavy damage, including scrap-grade units.

What are the advantages of second-hand containers over new containers?

Second-hand containers offer several key advantages compared to new (one-trip) units:

  They are often readily available in multiple locations, reducing lead times.

What is One-Way Leasing?

One-Way Leasing allows you to lease a container for a single shipment without purchasing it. After delivery, the container is returned at a designated drop-off location — no need to send it back to the original depot.

Think of it like renting a car: you use it for your trip and return it at another location.

Who Uses One-Way Leasing?

Do you offer credit terms?

Yes, credit terms may be available subject to application review and approval.

Credit Process Credit terms are available upon submission of a completed Credit Application and W-9.

Following approval, a General Sales Agreement outlining mutual obligations will be executed. The agreement remains valid without a fixed termination period unless otherwise agreed.

Can I inspect the container before purchasing?

Containers are stored in large CY facilities, and individual pre-inspections or photo selection are generally not available. After purchase confirmation, third-party inspection can be arranged at the buyer’s cost (approx. USD 200–250 per unit). Additional handling fees may apply if specific units are requested.
